CCTV News: At 16:30 on the 18th, the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced that "in view of the current situation and based on overall public safety considerations, it was scheduled to be held in Victoria Harbour on the evening of October 1 (Tuesday). The National Day fireworks display will be cancelled."
The Hong Kong National Day Fireworks Display has been held in Victoria Harbour since October 1st every year since 1997. This year is the third time that Hong Kong has cancelled its National Day fireworks display. In 2013 and 2014, Hong Kong cancelled the event because of the mourning of the victims of the collision in Lamma Island and the impact of “illegal occupation”.
